Hotel Information: The Capitol Skyline Hotel was originally designed by architect Morris Lapidus, whose earliest works defined the Miami Beach-resort style. This renovated hotel still retains a space-age exterior and other retro elements. Located five blocks from the U.S. Capitol, the Skyline is popular with vacationers and corporate travelers who have business on the Hill.
Insider tip: On weekends, Washingtonians head to Eastern Market, 12 blocks from the hotel. Outside the brick building, vendors line the sidewalk, selling produce, antiques, and crafts. Inside, Market Lunch serves a hearty breakfast. Across Seventh Street from the market are a number of boutiques and restaurants.
