Clusters of rattan chairs form sitting areas separated by soaring potted palms and other tropical plants. Reston is home to outposts for Microsoft, Oracle, and Diebold, and the Hyatt attracts many corporate travelers during the week. On weekends, conventions and groups arrive, along with a small number of leisure travelers.

What to expect: Corporate guests on business make up the majority of the hotel’s guests because of its close proximity to major technology firms. Dog companions, 80 pounds and under, are permitted without surcharges, and are provided with special beds and amenities for use during their stay.

Amenity highlights: A 24-hour shuttle provides transportation to and from Washington Dulles. An additional shuttle service is available within a two-mile radius from early morning to late evening (based on availability). Both are complimentary.

During warmer months, guests can use the outdoor pool, set inside a landscaped courtyard. The Cosmopolitan Lounge provides a gathering place for cocktails and a game of pool. Wireless Internet access is complimentary in the lobby area.

Insider tip: A mile north of the hotel is Reston Town Center, a complex built to resemble an old-fashioned “Main Street.” It is an attractive place to shop, dine, or catch a movie at the 13-screen theater. During the winter, an ice-skating rink is open.
