Hotel Information: Trams and pedestrians bustle past the Bristol's geometric Art Nouveau façade, built in 1892. In the black-and-white marble lobby, leggy starlets spill from the lift while business travelers check in at the dark-wood, recessed reception. Past the lobby, an oval lounge is scattered with Biedermeyer armchairs and marble coffee tables. Palms in brass pots provide privacy for guests reading American, German, and Japanese newspapers.

In the fine-dining Restaurant Korso bei der Oper, lit by chandeliers, the linen-clad tables nestle between turn-of-the-century smoked-glass and wood screens. Less formal, Restaurant Sirk serves Austrian specialties overlooking the lavish State Opera House.
Insider tip: About two blocks from the Hotel Bristol, Vienna's Naschmarkt market is a real insight into the daily life of the Viennese. Food vendors from all over the world set up stalls hawking fish, meat, cheese, baked goods, and preserves, as well as meals and snacks; others sell clothes and jewelry.
Rooms
This hotel has 140 guestrooms, all of which are furnished with antiques and hung with period oil paintings. Pale wood furnishings with black geometric inlays provide an Art Nouveau ambience, softened by brocaded bedspreads and romantic throw-cushions. Some rooms have decorative fireplaces, others have a view of the State Opera House. Every guest arrives to a fruit basket and mineral water. All rooms have dial-up Internet access (surcharge). Korso bei der Oper - The Michelin-starred Korso serves European and regional Austrian cuisine at lunch and dinner. In the serene, elegant dining room, guests sit in deep, green armchairs at pink-linen-clad tables. Palms and period screens provide privacy.
Restaurant Sirk - Specializing in Austrian cuisine, Sirk's modern dining room has clean lines, angular furnishings, and overlooks the State Opera house. The walls are hung with photos of the opera stars who have dined here. Sirk serves lunch and dinner, a breakfast buffet and family buffets on Sundays.
Bristol Bar - The Bristol Bar was the first American-style bar in Vienna. The bar’s deep, green armchairs, snug corners, and antique racing prints give it a living-room feel. The green leather barstools which line up by the small bar are as likely to seat Viennese businessmen as hotel guests.
