Hotel Information: This casual waterfront hotel dates from the 1960s. Business travelers stay here because of in-town convenience. Sports-minded vacationers appreciate the hotel’s proximity to boat trips to Buck Island Reef National Monument, where a famed snorkeling trail and pristine beach await.
Amenity highlights: Hotel Caravelle has a courtyard splash pool surrounded by a sundeck. A second sundeck is terraced above the pool; another overlooks the harbor and its colorful boats. The casual, open-air RumRunners restaurant/bar is one of Christiansted's most popular waterfront spots and features lobsters from a tank at dinner.

An independent water-sports center 200 yards away offers glass-bottom, power-boat, and sailboat excursions to Buck Island Reef National Monument, famed for its snorkeling trail. About 300 yards from the hotel, a boat ($3 round trip; price subject to change) takes passengers on a two-minute ride across the harbor to a public beach on the small island of Protestant Cay.
