Recreation
The Omni Tucson National Golf Course is a host course for the PGA Tour's Chrysler Classic of Tucson and the Southern Arizona Open. Its traditional-style fairways cap a bluff overlooking the Santa Catalina Mountains. A desert-style target course designed by Tom Lehman offers a combination of native desert vegetation with strategic fairway bunkering. Players can approach each hole in a variety of ways, keeping the course challenging and unique with each new round.
The 4,500-square-foot fitness center contains free weights and a half-dozen cardio machines. Classes such as stretch, yoga, power walking, and Tai Chi and personal trainers are also available for a fee. A children’s putting green is located adjacent to the golf course, and a lighted sports complex offers tennis, basketball, volleyball, shuffleboard, badminton, and horseshoes (free). Two outdoor heated pools are open year-round; one pool has a few lanes for lap swimming.
Desert adventures include mountain biking, hiking trips, desert four-wheel drive rides, horseback riding, group cattle drives, and hot-air balloon rides. Within driving distance of the resort are Saguaro National Park (8 mi), Sabino Canyon (10 mi), and Mount Lemmon ski resort (60 mi).
