Hotel Information: Elevators take guests from the ground floor of the triangular-shaped Shidome Media Tower to the 25th-floor 10-story atrium lobby/lounge area, which is topped by a glazed glass ceiling. Floor-to-ceiling windows behind reception offer views of Tokyo Tower and even Mount Fuji, on a clear day. Business and international travelers mingle and work in the lobby area’s semi-private conversation clusters of brown and white leather chairs separated by potted trees and criss-crossing walkways of wood
Amenity highlights: Not a typical lobby lounge, the atrium lobby area doubles as workspace for guests with their own laptops, and a venue for live music, featured Tuesday to Saturday evenings. Live jazz is also hosted Tuesday–Saturday in the hotel’s lobby lounge. Further nods to Western Europe can be found in the handmade French artwork hung throughout, and the Constance Spry Flower School and Shop, the only one outside the UK.
Insider tip: The surrounding Shidome Media City, connected to the hotel via several overhead pedestrian bridges, houses more than 100 dining options, upscale gift/clothing stores, and a grocery store, in addition to the Nippon TV headquarters.
Rooms
Guestroom floors overlook the central atrium and include corners with vending/ice machines. All 273 guestrooms carry the hotel’s modern/Euro look with their Italian-designed furnishings, Roman-style blinds, and handmade artwork by French artist Monique Le Houelleur. A complimentary pillow-fitting service helps guests find an option that will best suit their needs, including one specially designed for women’s shorter necks. Table/chairs are provided in each guestroom, as are electric tea kettles, and minibars that include champagne. Original nightwear comes in a pale green color that flatters any skin tone. Compact, tiled bathrooms have hair dryers and a selection of complimentary toiletries.
CD and DVD players and fax machines are complimentary upon request. Trouser presses can also be requested (surcharges).
