Dai-Ichi Hotel - Tokyo

Hotel Information: Shoppers and business travelers choose the Dai-ichi Hotel Tokyo not only for its proximity to transportation and the Ginza shopping district, but for its old-Europe/garden theme, which belies the hotel’s modern-style exterior and provides a graceful contrast to the busy city. Dominating its marble-floored atrium lobby is a ceiling-high mural flanked with velvet drapes and depicting an old-Europe garden scene. Crystal chandeliers, more marble, and a pastel color scheme are carried throughout the hotel’s public areas and guestrooms.

Amenity highlights: Twelve restaurants provide a plethora of dining options, with everything from traditional teppanyaki to French fine dining. The old-Europe/garden theme is carried in a French-style bakery, which offers hotel-made treats and gifts, and a French restaurant that serves afternoon tea and has gazebo-like buffet stations. The Dai-ichi’s annex building also offers a brasserie-style restaurant, along with a fitness studio and swimming facilities (surcharges apply for use).

Insider tip: The Dai-ichi is approximately five blocks from Takarazuka Theater, which features plays and musicals performed by a cast composed entirely of women. Otokoyaku actresses take male roles in romance-themed plays that have proven quite popular with the locals.
