Break for lunch, then stroll around the charming Ming dynasty-era Yuyuan Gardens before visiting Shanghai Old Street, 825-meters (one half-mile) long and lined with shops, some 100 years old. Stop for a stroll along the Bund, Shanghai’s most iconic area—once the most famous street in Asia—and an impressive waterfront showcase for Art Deco, Neo-Classical, and various other architectural styles.

Find out how the Chinese have been producing silk since the 14th century with a visit to the South China Silk Factory, one of the best places in Asia to buy silks and handmade pieces. The return drive goes through the fashionable French Concession shopping district, and then on to Xin Tian Di, the nightlife and restaurant district. At this point in the tour, choose to stay and explore the bustle on your own or continue back to your hotel with the group.
