Capture the excitement of Australia's 19th-century gold rush as you tour the scene of revolt, rebellion, and the emergence of democracy at Sovereign Hill and Ballarat. Pan for gold in the Red Gully Creek, or at least see if there's any left!

Travel along the Western Highway—the stagecoach route of the 1850s—to Bacchus Marsh and Ballarat. Take a guided tour of the city's gorgeous gardens and statues before visiting the Ballarat Wildlife Park. At the park, Patrick, the wombat, will greet you; you'll also see free-range kangaroos, emus, koalas, Tasmanian devils, goannas, and giant lizards. After your animal encounters, continue on to Sovereign Hill to find your fortune in gold! Experience the bustle of Australia's gold rush at the Gold Museum, and wander through Main Street's traditional blacksmith and craft shops. Stagecoach rides are available.
