Discover L.A.'s historic district, a cityscape right out of the golden era of Hollywood and brimming with cultural and architectural treasures.

Take this guided tour of 8 blocks in downtown L.A. and take a step back in time. Appearing much the same as it did in the 1930's, the historic district contains the landmark Art Deco Edison Building, as well as the Bradbury Building, a Victorian work of art with oak, wrought-iron, marble, tile, and glass accents. The opulent Biltmore Hotel, as well as the campy Clifton's Cafeteria—said to be the inspiration for Disneyland—are here, as are the Palace Theater, Grand Central Market, and the Central Library. And because the district has the largest concentration of pre-World War II architecture in America, it's often been used as a movie "back lot." Films shot here include Bladerunner, The Sting, Vertigo, Spiderman, and Terminator 3, so don't be surprised if feelings of déjà vu occur.

An added plus is the tour's "Live-Audio" listening system. The guide broadcasts commentary over a headset microphone to participants, who use audio headsets with individual volume control. Note that this is not a pre-recorded tour, but rather a way of making sure everyone can hear, no matter where they're standing or what city noises surround them.
