Aquarium of the Pacific
Mingle with lorikeets, watch turtles swim, touch a small shark, and come face-to-face with over 1,000 other species in native environments as you explore the Pacific Ocean’s three main regions: Southern California and Baja, the Tropical Pacific, and the Northern Pacific.
Embark on a "journey" of the world’s largest ocean, from the frigid waters of the North Pacific to the colorful reefs of the tropical Pacific to sunny Southern California and the Baja Peninsula. Over 50 exhibits containing more than 1,000 species of marine creatures showcase the three main environments of this region.
In the Southern California and Baja Gallery, seals and sea lions can be viewed in an up-close and personal indoor/outdoor setting. A kelp forest, endangered sea turtles from the Sea of Cortez, and many other fascinating animals are featured here as well.
The Northern Pacific Gallery is home to puffins and other diving birds "flying" underwater, while the sea otters frolic in a nearby habitat. Watch mysterious schooling fish and a giant octopus, plus bright sea stars and giant Japanese spider crabs.
In the Tropical Reef Habitat—the Aquarium's largest exhibit—view a coral lagoon with colorful fish, sea horses, sea snakes, and mysterious sea dragons. Sharks and colorful sea life swirl around visitors in a tunnel and through various viewing windows.
Lorikeet Forest is a walk-through, hands-on aviary filled with dozens of Australian lorikeets. Purchase a cup of nectar to feed these friendly birds that will land on your hand, arm, or even your head to get a sip of the sweet nectar. The Shark Lagoon is an educational adventure showcasing impressive large sharks and touch pools where visitors can reach in and touch more than 150 smaller sharks.
