Meaning "fence, trench, or wall," Tulum is so named because of the wall surrounding it. This popular Mayan site attracts more than 2 million visitors every year—and for good reason; it's simply spectacular. Xel-Ha (“the place where the water is born”) is a natural wonder of labyrinths, waterways, jungle paths, crystal-clear lagoons, cenotes (fresh water sinkholes or natural wells), and a river flowing through a mangrove forest.
