Feel the crunch of fresh powder as you walk along the steel catwalks leading into icy Johnston Canyon. Along the way, you'll take in frozen waterfalls, giant ice pillars, and winter wildlife habitats.
As you hike on the steel walkways built into the canyon's walls, you'll have great views of the gorge below. Discover a natural ice cave, gigantic ice pillars, and the climbers that attempt to conquer them! Plus, travel through prime wildlife habitat on your way to the trailhead, while learning about Johnston Canyon's formation. When you've completed your walk, you'll be greeted with hot chocolate and light snacks.

Note:
This is an easy to moderate ice walk, with an elevation gain of 443 feet (135 m), and a total distance of 3.4 miles (5.4 km). Participants should dress in ski wear including, hats, gloves, and warm boots. The ice walk is not recommended for children younger than 8. All customers/participants are required to sign liability waivers before participating in this activity.

After you book your activity, follow these 3 easy steps:
1. Print your voucher; locate the voucher in your travel confirmation e-mail or in the My Trips/My Itineraries link on the site.
2. Follow the redemption instructions on your voucher; it is critical to do this before you depart.
3. Take all vouchers with you; you must redeem one voucher per person.

You must contact Discover Banff Tours at least 72 hours prior to the day you wish to participate in the ice walk to reserve your tour date and confirm your pick-up time and location; the customer service phone number appears on your printed voucher(s). Reservations may also be confirmed at least 72 hours in advance at the Discover Banff Tours reservation store at Sundance Mall; the mall address appears on your printed voucher(s). Guests must be ready in the assigned pick-up location 15 minutes prior to departure. There is no tour availability guarantee for guests who do not confirm 72 hours in advance. Upon pick-up, present your voucher(s) and photo identification to the tour guide for verification.
