Hotel Information: Opened in June 2002, the hotel serves as a holiday destination for both families and couples from the U.S. and Europe. Spacious public areas and a sunbathing courtyard offer ample space for rest, while group activities (most varied in the summer season) entertain day and night.
Amenity highlights: The hotel's expansive central courtyard features a 21.5-by-14-meter (70-by-45-foot) pool and a 4.6-meter (15-foot-diameter) children's pool as well as palm trees, lawns, and lounge chairs. A health club (surcharge) includes an 11-meter (36-foot-diameter) heated, year-round indoor pool in a rotunda under a dark-blue dome ceiling. The rotunda's windows let in outside light. Padded lounge chairs provide comfort. A raised spa tub (surcharge) can accommodate four.
Insider tip: Said to be one of Europe's oldest olive trees, a massive growth dating to the 17th century, lies within the traditional fishing village of Pedras del Rey six km (3.5 miles) from the hotel.

The hotel offers 268 air-conditioned guestrooms and suites in a three-story, rectangular building constructed around a central courtyard containing a pool. The building is white with mustard-brown and dark-blue trim, a tribute to Portugal's Moorish history. Balconies and patios are furnished with chairs and cocktail tables. Decor features terra-cotta tile floors with bedside throw rugs, cream walls, white ceilings and crown molding, dark-blue furniture with tan latticework insets, light-blue-and-cream fabrics, and blue-and-white tile bathrooms.
