Hotel Information: Polynesian artworks and décor in an open-air reception area, set under thatched roofs, set the holiday mood at the Sheraton Hotel Tahiti. Cane furnishings with batik cushions are scattered in front of the reception desk, which is backed by a large stone frieze of tropical flowers. Further into the lobby, a circular lounge area highlights a one-tonne chandelier made from 8,000 mother-of-pearl shells. Stairs lead down to other lounge areas and the tropical gardens.
Insider tip: The Municipal Markets in downtown Papeete, less than 3 km from the Sheraton Hotel Tahiti, are a colourful spectacle well worth visiting, especially early on Sunday mornings, when people come from all over the island to sell produce. Here, travellers can snack on inexpensive island treats while taking in the sounds of a local string band, then browse through stalls selling tropical fruit, French pastries, and great slabs of meat. Popular with locals, the markets offer an interesting view of local Tahitian daily life.
Spa
The Sheraton Hotel Tahiti's Mandara Spa was two rooms. Each has two massage tables, a jetted tub, an attached bathroom with shower, and a balcony overlooking the lagoon.
Spa treatments are available to reserve in advance on-line during the final stages of the booking process.
The Sheraton Hotel Tahiti’s Mandara Spa derives its name from an ancient Sanskrit legend about the gods' quest to find the elixir of immortality and eternal youth, and the spa's treatments aim to help guests relax and rejuvenate. Its signature treatments are Tahiti Dreams (a coconut body polish, warm milk bath, and soft cotton wrap followed by warm volcanic stones on the muscles and a spa bath) and South Pacific Indulgence (a combination of foot bath, body polish, massage, and spa bath).

Papeete Faa'a International Airport (PPT): Approximate travel time is 10 minutes and distance is 6.5 km.
Getting there: Hotels in Tahiti are forbidden by law from picking guests up at the airport. The most convenient way to get to the Sheraton Hotel Tahiti is by taxi, or by arranging an airport pick up in advance from a private company. Car rentals are available online. Click the links below for instructions/details.
Getting around: A single paved road circumnavigates Tahiti island. Villages are served by local buses, all of which end up in the capital, Papeete, but these are irregular and not air conditioned. Buses to Faaa, Maeva, and Outuamaru pass the Sheraton Hotel Tahiti and start on the Rue du Maréchal-Foch in Papeete, departing every twenty minutes or so, or every hour at night. Fares are XPF120–200 (AU$2–$5) within the Papeete area and up to a maximum of XPF600 (AU$6–$10) to the end of the line. Taxis can be flagged in the street or found at taxi stands. Fares must be agreed upon at the start of the journey, since there are few meters, although rates are set by the government. Flagfall is XPF1,000 (AU$11–$15) and XPF120 (AU$1–$2) per km in the daytime and XPF240 (AU$3–$4) at night.
