Hotel Information: The lobby of the Shangri-La Hotel Sydney has floor-to-ceiling windows on two sides, letting light flood into the area, which is decorated in a décor of tans, purples and greys that evoke the colours of Australian eucalyptus trees. Insider tip: While the Shangri-La Hotel Sydney stands near many major tourist attractions, the Sydney Observatory on a hillside nearby is often overlooked, perhaps because it is cut off from downtown by the highway approaches to the Harbour Bridge. The observatory is worth a visit for its astronomy museum, but particularly for its night tour, which enables visitors to glimpse the planets and stars of the southern skies through telescopes.
