Spanning a corridor from George through to Sussex streets in Sydney’s Chinatown, the Pensione is a boutique hotel modelled on the tradition of European-style pensions. Occupying a restored heritage building, the Pensione Hotel Sydney combines turn-of-the-century architectural features with modern amenities. The reception area opens out to a large guest lounge with adjoining guest kitchen, laundry (coin-operated), baggage storage lockers, and high-speed Internet kiosk. Directly underneath the Pensione Hotel on the ground level is the Sussex (shopping) Arcade and within 1 km in all directions is an eclectic range of shops – from traditional Chinese herbalists through to Department stores offering the best in international designer fashions. Reception is located on level one and the hotel extends across four levels.

Getting there:The easiest methods of transport from the airport to the Pensione Hotel Sydney are by taxi, car, or shuttle. Car rentals are available online.

Directions (subject to change without notice): The apartments are located at 631 George Street (between Hay and Goulburn streets). The hotel is on the left, if approaching from the Broadway end of George Street. If it is too busy to stop (George Street is a major thoroughfare), the taxi can turn next on the left at Goulburn Street and then left again into Sussex Street and stop at the rear entrance of the Pensione Hotel.

Approximate travel time: 20 minutes
Driving direction from Sydney international or domestic airport (SYD): Exit the airport, following the signs to the city, via Airport Drive and then Qantas Drive (over approximately 2 km). Turn left at Robey Street and then left again at O’Riordan Street. Travel for approximately 3.2 km and then turn left at Botany Road. After a short distance, turn left at McEvoy Street, Waterloo, and then immediately right at Wyndham Street, Alexandria, which becomes Gibbons Street near Redfern train station, and then Regent Street (after crossing Cleveland Street). Near Central Station, Regent continues as Lee Street. At the set of traffic lights (where Lee Street meets George Street), take the left hand lane and then feed (right) into George Street, travelling north. The Pensione Hotel is approximately 400 metres on the left (before Goulburn Street). If it is difficult to stop the car due to congestion, turn left at the next street (Goulburn Street) and then immediately left again into Sussex Street, and park at the rear entrance of the hotel. If guests are not being dropped off and wish to park a car, this is best done prior to checking in. The parking station with which Pensione Sydney has forged a discount rate is approximately 100 metres away. Hence it is best to keep luggage to a minimum or packed within bags on wheels/trolley. Follow all driving instructions (above) up until the intersection of Lee and George streets. Instead of turning into George Street, turn sharp right into Pitt Street and travel approximately 500 metres to Campbell Street. Take a left turn here to find Capitol Square Parking Station. Park and retain the parking ticket to present at the Pensione Hotel’s reception. Proceed to the end of the street at the T-junction with George Street. The Pensione Hotel is across the road in the block leading up to Goulburn Street.

Schedules and directions (subject to change without notice): Shuttle bus services depart the airport for the central business district at regular intervals. Ask at the airport information counter for the departure point for the shuttle service which stops at the Pensione Hotel Sydney. Guests may book a return shuttle transfer with reception staff (please try and allow at least one to two days notice if possible).
