Please note that check-in is conducted at 132-136 Sussex Street (for guests staying at both the Sussex Street or King Street apartments). Reception is accessed via an entry on King Street (near the intersection with Sussex Street).
Rooms
The 42 one-bedroom apartments of Metro Apartments on Darling Harbour are located across two sites – one on Sussex Street and the other, almost opposite, on King Street. All feature balconies and full kitchens with microwaves, 4-ring cooktops, ovens, sinks, dishwashers, full refrigerators, rangehoods, toasters, jugs, and cutlery/chinaware for four guests. Laundry facilities (washing machines and dryers) are located in the bathrooms which also offer combined baths/showers. Dining tables with four chairs, TVs with complimentary in-house movies, and coffee tables feature in the living areas. All apartments are non-smoking, except on balcony areas. The minibar comprises non-alcoholic items only such as juices, soft drinks, chocolates, and nuts.

Renovation Notice
A soft refurbishment program will take place during late 2007 in the Sussex Street apartments. This will involve painting and replacement of soft furnishings in guestrooms. Minimal disruption is expected.
Recreation
The King Street site has a 10-metre rooftop pool with surrounding sun patio.
One block from the hotel is a gym with a wide range of fitness equipment and classes on offer. Approximately 300 metres away is King Street Wharf, where a walking/jogging track overlooks scenic water and city views while winding around to Cockle Bay and on to Darling Harbour.

Property Amenities
Split over two sites, Metro Apartments on Darling Harbour occupies prime CBD real estate. Many corporate headquarters, particularly of a financial nature, are located within 0.5 km, and the popular entertainment precincts of King Street Wharf and Cockle Bay are just as handy at 300 metres and 700 metres away respectively. A multitude of Yum Cha and other dining options await in Chinatown, approximately 1.5 km down Sussex Street, and Liverpool Street’s Spanish Quarter is even handier. Wynyard railway station is approximately 1 km from the apartments and the closest monorail station, which services Darling Harbour and the Sydney Convention & Exhibition Centre, is approximately 0.5 km away. The Sussex Street site is located on the corner of King Street (where the entry is positioned), and the King Street apartments are almost opposite. Complimentary wireless Internet access is available across the Sussex Street site and Telstra wireless “hot spots” are available in the King Street address. All bathrooms were renovated during 2005-2006, and kitchen/laundry appliances and air conditioning units were replaced during 2006 throughout the Sussex Street apartments.

Getting there:The easiest routes from the airport to the Metro Hotel Darling Harbour are by taxi, car, train, or shuttle. Car rentals are available online.

Approximate travel time from the airport to the train station: 10-15 minutes
Approximately train cost (subject to change without notice): AU$12.60 per adult one way and AU$8.60 per child/student/pensioner
Train schedules and directions (subject to change without notice): Trains operate regularly throughout the day between Sydney international and domestic airports and the CBD (every 5-15 minutes, depending on the time of day). From Town Hall and Wynyard stations, Metro Apartments are approximately 1 km (slightly downhill) so this mode of transport is best suited to those with limited luggage.

Directions (subject to change without notice): The hotel is located on the corner of Sussex and King streets, with reception entry via King Street. If it is difficult to stop due to traffic conditions, ask the taxi to stop in the small laneway/driveway/delivery dock next to the hotel.

Driving direction from Sydney international or domestic airport (SYD): Exit the airport and proceed to General Holmes Drive and then Southern Cross Drive. Continue on the latter for approximately 6 km and then take the Eastern Distributor Motorway for 2.7 km and take the Cross City Tunnel exit at Surry Hills/Kings Cross (a toll of AU$4.50 is due here). Exit left onto William Street, which becomes Park street after approximately 600 metres. Travel up Park Street and cross over George Street (with the Town Hall on the left and the Queen Victoria Building on the right). Park Street now becomes Druitt Street. Take either the first (Clarence Street) or the second (Kent Street) on the right and travel for more than 1 km north until the intersection at traffic lights with Erskine Street. Turn left here and then left again into Sussex Street, which is one way travelling south. The Sussex Street reception is approximately 400 metres (one block) on the left. Turn left here into King Street (the apartments are on the corner) and proceed to King Street Parking Station which is approximately 50 metres from reception. Park the car and ensure that the parking ticket is validated by hotel reception staff upon check-in. As there is a short distance between the parking station and reception, it is advisable to limit luggage or use baggage on wheels. Toll(s) subject to change without notice.

Schedules and directions (subject to change without notice): Shuttle bus services depart the airport for the central business district at regular intervals. Ask at the airport information counter for the departure point for the shuttle service which stops at/near the Metro Apartments on Darling Harbour (please ensure to stipulate the Metro Hotel Darling Harbour on the corner of Sussex and King streets as there are several Metro properties located in Sydney). Guests may book a return shuttle transfer with reception staff at the hotel (please try and allow at least 1-2 days notice if possible).
Know Before You Go
Both the Sussex Street and King Street apartments are accessed via steep stairs from the footpath to the main entrance. The Sussex Street apartments also feature an internal staircase leading from the living area to the bedroom/bathroom. Guests staying at the Sussex Street Hotel are unable to use the rooftop pool at the King Street apartment block.
