Please note: Check-in and reception services are available 7 AM - 9 PM. Guests intending to arrive after 9 PM must contact the hotel staff at reservations@centralrailwayhotel.com at least 24 hours in advance in order to make alternate check-in arrangements.

By car (click here)

Driving directions from SYD: Rental cars are available online. From the airport, ask the rental-car attendant for a good map and clear directions to get to Chalmers Street off Cleveland Street near Central Station.

If travelling by car from Sydney Airport, follow the signs on South Dowling Street to the Central Business District/city. Turn left into Cleveland Street (just past Moore Park Golf Course on the right) and follow Cleveland Street for less than 1 km, and then turn left at the fifth set of traffic lights (not counting the intersection of Cleveland/South Dowling streets) into Elizabeth Street (one way, heading south). Turn right onto Redfern Street and then into Chalmers Street, which is one way, heading north. The hotel is on the right, almost as far as the intersection with Cleveland, opposite the tall TNT office towers (the Prince Alfred Park building/Australia Post headquarters).

Instructions: A taxi queue awaits a short distance from the airport arrivals area. Please inform the taxi driver that the hotel is located on Chalmers Street, opposite the tall TNT towers (the Prince Alfred Park building and Australia Post headquarters). Also mention that the hotel has to be approached from the Redfern Street end of Chalmers Street due to the one-way network of streets in the area.

Approximate travel time from the airport to the train station: 20 minutes, depending on the time of day.

Approximate train cost (subject to change without notice): A single one-way ticket costs approximately AU$13–$15 per adult.

Schedules and directions (subject to change without notice): Train stations are located at both the international and domestic airport terminals, with trains operating every 10–15 minutes. The Airport/East Hills train line runs from the domestic and international airports to Central Station. The hotel is less than 0.5 km from the station. Please note that Central Station is extremely large, with some steps, so guests wanting to make their own way from the station should keep their luggage to a minimum. Otherwise, there is a taxi stand near the station.

Approximate cost (subject to change without notice): AU$10–$15 for one-way transportation.

Schedules and directions (subject to change without notice): Shuttle services to central Sydney operate regularly throughout the day and evening, approximately every 30 minutes. They can easily be arranged on arrival at both the domestic and international terminals. Guests should proceed to the Information Desk on the arrivals level and ask for assistance. The hotel can organise a shuttle-bus transfer from the hotel to the airport for AU$10–$15 (guests must book at least one day in advance, or earlier, if possible).

Dining

While the hotel does not have a restaurant or café, it provides discount vouchers for guests to dine at a café across the road for breakfast. The café serves both a Continental and full, country-style breakfast.
