Hotel Stellar has forged an arrangement with Gold Gym (0.5 km away), allowing guests discounted entry. The gym offers an extensive range of exercise equipment, weights, and classes.
Popular with joggers is the harbour-side path which travels over a few kms, starting near The Art Gallery of New South Wales (approximately 1.5 km away from Hotel Stellar), via Mrs Macquaries Chair, through the Royal Botanic Gardens and on to the steps of the Opera House. The Cook + Phillip Park, just 3 blocks from Hotel Stellar, offers an 8-lane Olympic-sized pool, hydrotherapy pool, fitness centre, children’s play area, and leisure pool with wave machine. The harbour-side Andrew (Boy) Charlton Pool is approximately 2 km away via a very scenic walk.

With views over Hyde Park, Best Western Hotel Stellar is located on the fringes of the CBD and within 1.5 km of most corporate headquarters, departments stores, and popular shopping arcades. The lures of East Sydney’s “Little Italy” along Stanley Street are 1 km from the hotel and the café-restaurant-concentrated districts of Surry Hills and Darlinghurst are a similar distance. Within the hotel is an independently owned and operated café, Mr Espresso, serving typical café-style fare, including hot breakfast options. Hotel Stellar’s 6-storey, heritage-listed façade hides a totally remodelled interior which was completed in late 2005. A breakfast room is located on the lower ground level and a small bar, aptly named Bar Stellar, opens from noon until well into the early morning. Room service operates daily with the exception of some public holidays. Two coin-operated guest laundries are available on levels 2 and 6 and a dry cleaning service operates Monday-Saturday. There is one dedicated smoking floor and smoking is not permitted in public areas of the hotel.
Self parking: Unlimited entries/exits. 24 hour access. Located within the same block as hotel. Entry via Wentworth Lane (at rear of hotel). Hotel Stellar staff will escort guests to parking area on arrival. Covered and secure.

Instructions: A taxi queue awaits a short distance from the airport arrivals area. The hotel is on Wentworth Avenue, next to The Connaught apartment block near Whitlam Square (on Oxford Street). If the taxi is approaching from Central Station along Wentworth Avenue, the hotel is on the left before reaching Hyde Park. If approaching via College Street, the hotel is on the right after crossing Whitlam Square at Hyde Park.

Driving directions from Kingsford Smith Airport (SYD): On leaving the airport, head for General Holmes Drive and then Southern Cross Drive. After approximately 6 km, this becomes Dowling Street (at Kensington). Take the Eastern Distributor Motorway (an underground tunnel) and after approximately 2.7 km, take the Kings Cross/Surry Hills exit onto William Street (a toll payable in AUD$4.50 will be due here in cash). Turn left into William Street and travel approximately 500 metres, when William Street meets College Street. Turn left here (the Australian Museum will be on the left and Hyde Park south will be on the right). Travel through one set of lights just past the museum and Sydney Grammar School, then past the Marriott Hotel on the left. Cross over the traffic lights at Whitlam Square (on Oxford Street). The hotel is immediately on the right on Wentworth Avenue. Turn right where traffic conditions/signs allow and double back, turning into the small lane next to the hotel, named Wentworth Lane. Park the car in a 5-minute parking space in the lane and report to concierge staff who will then provide an escort to the nearby parking station. It may be more convenient to also leave baggage with the staff member at this time.
