Village at Breckenridge Resort

Hotel Information: This aptly named resort—one half-block off Main Street in Breckenridge at the base of Peak 9—is a village unto itself, with shops, restaurants, and accommodations that include hotel rooms, studios, and condos. Ample event space (30,000 square feet) makes it a popular choice for business meetings, group ski trips, family vacations, reunions, and weddings.

Amenity highlights: Guests unwind in the indoor/outdoor pool and outdoor spas. Maggie Pond offers ice-skating in winter and paddleboat fun during summer. The Village at Breckenridge Resort has a ski school, medical center, and pedestrian plaza with gift and gear shops. Its two restaurants and smoke-free pub are open during the summer and winter seasons.

Insider tip: Among Breckenridge's many summer diversions is the Alpine Superslide. Riders sled down the mountain on three tracks that range in challenge level for children and adults. Other park features: Superputt miniature golf and the “Amaze’n Breckenridge®,” Colorado's largest maze.

Recreation

During the winter, guests can ice skate on Maggie Pond; come summer, it offers a scenic spot for low-key paddleboating. An indoor/outdoor pool and three spa tubs are open year-round. Discount passes to the Breckenridge Recreation Center are also available.

Summit County, where Breckenridge is located, offers numerous recreational activities. Besides skiing and snowboarding, winter sports include ballooning, sleigh rides, and snow tubing. Summer sports include hiking, biking, gold panning, ballooning, rafting, and mine tours.

Golf is played at the Breckenridge Golf Course, a 27-hole Jack Nicklaus-designed municipal course; Keystone Ranch and The River Course at Keystone; Copper Creek, a championship golf course at Copper Mountain, and The Raven Golf Course at Three Peaks in Silverthorne.

Activities at the Dillon Dam Recreation Area, 10 miles north of Breckenridge, include boating, sailing, camping, canoeing, fishing, and Nordic skiing.

The Breckenridge and Silverthorne recreation centers offer indoor pools, basketball courts, skateboard parks, indoor climbing, tennis courts, and fitness programs.

Breckenridge, which has a summit elevation of 12,998, gets an average of 300 inches of snow annually. Its four interconnected mountains—Peaks 7, 8, 9, and 10, each with its own personality—encompass 2,207 acres, including four terrain parks, four half-pipes, and 772 acres of bowls. The resort’s 146 trails are 52 percent expert/advanced, 33 percent intermediate, and 15 percent beginner; they are accessible by 27 lifts.

Keystone Resort is seven miles from Breckenridge and linked by a free shuttle service and interchangeable lift tickets. The resort, which has a 12,408-ft summit and gets 230 inches of snow annually, offers 2,870 acres with 116 trails: 19 percent beginner, 39 percent more difficult, and 49 percent most difficult. These are accessible by 19 lifts, including two gondolas. During the high season, 15 trails and a lighted terrain park are open at night.

Other nearby Summit County resorts are Arapahoe Basin and Copper Mountain. A-Basin, as it’s known locally, stands tall at 13,050 feet. Its 69 trails are accessible by six lifts. The terrain park, Mutha’ Hucker, is one of the highest in North America. A-Basin’s season extends from October through June, depending on weather and snow. Copper Mountain’s 125 trails are accessible by 22 lifts. It also features terrain parks for adults and children, and jib parks, including Night Rider, open evenings on Fridays.

Know Before You Go

Parking: All units receive one parking space included in the resort fee. All vehicles above the appropriate per-unit limit are subject to a parking fee.

Vail Resorts Lodging Company has partnered with the National Forest Foundation to support projects that improve and enhance the White River National Forest. As part of this initiative, a voluntary donation per room per night will automatically be added to the bill. The entire contribution will be forwarded to the National Forest Foundation.

If guests do not wish to make this contribution, they should let the front desk staff know and it will be removed from their bill immediately.

Cancellation penalties apply after reservation is confirmed. No-show and short stay penalties also apply. The hotel cancellation penalty may be up to 100 percent of amount paid.

Breck Burger Bar - Offers casual dining and full bar, serving breakfast all day, lunch, dinner. Entire menu is available for take out.

Park Avenue Pub - Dinner, drinks, appetizers, and late-night snacks are available at this bar, which is smoke-free but offers a smoking lounge next door. Pub bites include an antipasto plate, baked Brie, chicken wings, and Dove ice cream bars.

The Maggie - Lunch and après-ski meals—think burgers, fries, and beer—are served at this winter-only restaurant with ski-in/ski-out access to the Quicksilver Super6 chairlift. It has a large-screen television and outdoor seating on sunny days.
