The Grand Hotel Saltsjöbaden has a rich history, beginning with a splendid inauguration hosted be King Oscar II in 1893. The hotel was to become the model year-round recreational site, influenced by Monte Carlo. The railway from Stockholm was also built at that time to provide hardworking Stockholm residents with a fast route to the seaside and the fresh salty air of Saltsjöbaden.
