Hotel Information: The Silver Bullet Gondola zips overhead at this small resort, a clubhouse and 46 condominiums in the mountain village at the bottom of Mt. Werner. The condos are a favorite among vacationing families thanks to their slopeside location and homey amenities, including fireplaces and fully equipped, contemporary kitchens.
Amenity highlights: Guests check in at the chalet-like clubhouse, a spacious spot with complimentary coffee and donuts (available late November to early April), indoor and outdoor spa tubs, and a deck. Skiers and boarders hit the base area via an access trail behind the condos or the private, complimentary guest ski shuttle, which also ferries folks to downtown Steamboat Springs in winter. Another perk for winter sports fans is use of private lockers for gear.

Howelson Hill Recreation Area, also downtown, offers alpine skiing along with 20- to 90-meter jumps, an ice rink, snow rafting, and during summer, an alpine slide. The facility is located on the south side of the Yampa River, alongside which a paved hiking and biking trail extends from Old Town to the mountain village.
Summer activities include golf at four area courses, hiking, rock climbing, tennis, four-wheel drive tours, photography tours, hot-air balloon rides, fishing, miniature golf, horseback riding, kayaking, biking, river rafting, llama treks, gondola rides, guided nature walks, mineral hot baths, and cattle drives.
The condominiums are located under the Silver Bullet Gondola in the mountain village. The resort is topped by 10,568-foot Mt. Werner, and has a 3,668-foot vertical drop and 2,939 skiable acres with 142 trails: 13 percent beginner, 56 percent intermediate and 31 percent advanced. They are accessible by 25 lifts, including a gondola and four high-speed quads.
The average snowfall is 337 inches (in January, an average of 95 inches is champagne powder) thanks to the resort’s location on the windward side of the Park Range, right before the Continental Divide.
