Travel Details

The Inn at El Gaucho

Hotel Information: The 1950s, decade of Sinatra, Brando, and Monroe, was the inspiration for this boutique hotel in trendsetting Belltown. To the right of the foyer, a flight of stairs leads to a warmly inviting lobby with Italian leather sofas and armchairs, a gas fireplace, fresh flowers, and a giant poster for the 1952 movie Way of a Gaucho. Original paintings of 1950s icons decorate the public spaces.

Amenity highlights: El Gaucho restaurant combines 1950s styling, including mink-backed leather banquettes and a tufted-leather bar, with classic steakhouse fare: “Flaming Sword” Brochette of Tenderloin, Peppercorn New York, and Chateaubriand for Two. Steaks, chops, and seafood are prepared on a coal grill in an exhibition kitchen. A pianist entertains nightly on the baby grand.

Complimentary wireless Internet access is available throughout The Inn at El Gaucho.

Insider tip: The Elliott Bay Water Taxi between downtown and West Seattle offers superb views of the skyline and Space Needle, cruise and container ships, and—weather permitting—the Olympic Mountains and Mount Rainier. The boat departs from Pier 55, one mile from the hotel. From the West Seattle dock, Alki Beach is 1.75 miles away by foot or free shuttle bus. The water taxi operates May–September.
