Travel Details

Grand Hyatt Seattle

Hotel Information: An original Willem de Kooning bronze presides at the entrance. In the center of the Hyatt's lobby, a freestanding glass sculpture evoking a Northwest forest springs from a stone garden, separating the reception area from clusters of lounge areas decorated in soft silver, rust, gold, and navy. A wide corridor with fossilized travertine floors accented by original paintings and a back-lit onyx wall panel leads to the hotel’s 25,000 square feet of meeting space.

Amenity highlights: The 3,800-square-foot health club is outfitted with Hawaiian koa-wood doors, Brazilian cherry-wood floors, and top-notch cardio and weight machines. A slate-floor lobby leads to a spa tub, sauna, and steam room. Ruth’s Chris Steak House, the on-site restaurant, showcases prime steak, along with fresh seafood.

Insider tip: Seattle’s historic Paramount Theatre, a stunning Beaux Arts–style building constructed in 1928, is a half-block away. A $30 million renovation in 1994 restored the Paramount to its original splendor, showcasing gold-leaf wall medallions, French Baroque moldings, lacy ironwork, and crystal beads that adorn some 218 chandeliers and light fixtures. Visitors can attend a performance or simply show up for a free tour the first Saturday of every month.
