Insider tip: After a hurricane destroyed the family's original home, Clara Livingston, daughter of the New Yorker who established the plantation in Dorado where the resort now stands, built a concrete hacienda. Amelia Earhart, a friend of Clara Livingston, visited the hacienda in 1937 during her ill-fated attempt to fly around the world.
Rooms
The Hyatt Hacienda Del Mar offers 82 two-bedroom, two-bath condo units in two eight-story buildings. All condos feature two ocean-view balconies or patios with dining sets. Each unit includes a kitchen or a kitchenette, and a washer/dryer.
Living/dining rooms have entertainment centers with TVs, DVD players, and CD players. Bedrooms have TVs and either VCRs or DVD player/VCR combinations. (Rental videos and DVDs available.) Ceiling fans supplement air conditioning. One of the bathrooms has a jetted tub and separate shower stall.
