Amenity highlights: The views alone are worth the price of admission, but most guests find many other things to appreciate: two championship 18-hole golf courses, a 16,000-square-foot spa, beauty salon and fitness center, an outdoor spa overlooking the ocean, tennis courts, and a nearby secluded beach.
Insider tip: Half Moon Bay is a prime locale for watching the annual gray whale migration November through April. In the off-season, the shoreline is a maze of tidepools that offer a remarkable glimpse of marine life in a microcosm; best viewing is at the James Fitzgerald Marine Reserve about 9 miles north of the hotel.
