Hotel Information: Designed by John Portman, JW Marriott San Francisco has cylindrical glass elevators that zip up and down a 21-story skylit atrium. Located one block from Union Square and four blocks from the Financial District, the hotel is popular with corporate groups, sports teams, and leisure travelers.
Insider tip: While high-profile Union Square is a mecca for big department stores and upscale chains, less showy Post Street is home to the city’s most exclusive designer names, including Versace, Polo, Tiffany, Armani, and Cartier. All are within a few blocks of the hotel.
Rooms
The 21-story JW Marriott San Francisco has 338 guestrooms, all with complimentary personal valet service upon request. Rooms were renovated December 2007 and have minibars, Bose radios, 42-inch LCD TVs with premium channels, and granite-topped desks with Herman Miller ergonomic chairs.
Amenities include high-speed Internet access (surcharge), complimentary weekday newspapers, laptop-compatible safes, and video games (surcharge). Beds include pillowtop mattresses, down bedding, and a choice of pillows. Marble bathrooms provide make-up mirrors, bathrobes, phones, and Gilchrist & Soames bath products.
