Hotel Information: The Aleph is housed in a Renaissance building located on a quiet side street. The reception area has a floor of black marble inlaid with tiny red tiles. Enormous vases of red roses top a white desk. The staff members are young and dressed entirely in black. Music plays in all public spaces. Guests are a mix of tourists and businesspeople, but are primarily professionals in their 30s.
Amenity highlights: Formerly a bank, the hotel houses a conference room, and—in the basement—a health club and spa. The spa theme is "Paradise," and offerings include massage, sauna, and beauty treatments. Also in the basement, what was once a giant safe has been converted into a relaxation room. In October 2003, the Aleph won the Best Hotel in the Interior Design category at the "European Hotel Design Awards." The architect, New York-based Adam D Tihany, was educated in Italy.
Rooms
The Aleph A Boscolo Luxury Hotel, Rome, offers 96 guestrooms. Minimalist decor includes elements reminiscent of Italian design from the 1930s and 1940s. Whites and creams predominate, and there are splashes of dark blue. An entire wall (in each room) is covered with a black- and-white photograph of Rome, inspired by the films of director Fellini. En-suite bathrooms are designed with tiny blue and white mosaic tiles. Some have sunken tubs.
