Hotel Information: The Westin Resort and Spa attracts both couples and families. The hotel was designed by architect Javier Sordo Madaleno in a monumental style, with huge swatches of color (mango, bright-yellow, vivid-pink) and large, airy public spaces, including a hall lined by blue-tile waterfalls, shops, and fanciful, colorful animal statues from Oaxaca.
Amenity highlights: Palms create a light-and-shadow mosaic on four lagoon-style pools containing garden islands. The activities pool features a swim-up bar, jetted section, and tile lounges, as does an adults' pool. Another pool caters to children, and the fourth is for families. A sand section by the beach features curtained, wood-platform rental cabanas with cushioned teak lounges for 3-6 guests. Nikki Beach Restaurant includes a sand section with sunbathing beds.
Insider tip: Westin Resort & Spa Puerto Vallarta maintains a fenced-in nursery on the beach for hatching endangered-turtle eggs during the nesting season. When turtles hatch (July-January), guests assist in releasing them to the sea.
Rooms
This Puerto Vallarta resort offers 280 guestrooms and suites in a three-section building of 8-13 stories. Balconies or patios furnished with two-chair dining sets provide garden/partial-ocean or full ocean views. Westin's signature all-white Heavenly Beds comprise foot-thick pillowtop mattresses, triple sheeting, down-filled blankets, polished-cotton down comforters, and multiple pillows including neck-rolls. (Heavenly Cribs and Heavenly Dog Beds are available on request.) Rose-and-tan-marble bathrooms feature Heavenly Showers with dual heads and separate tubs.
Decor and furnishings include floors of terra-cotta tiles and faux stone, white walls, bright pastel ceilings, contemporary prints on walls, upholstered headboards, and honey-colored-and-wrought-iron furniture including a desk/dining table with cushioned, fabric-draped chairs. Ceiling fans and air conditioning provide cooling alternatives. Terry-cloth bathrobes supply lounging comfort. High-speed and wireless Internet access is available for surcharges. Each room and suite contains two dual-line telephones, one cordless.
Guests of Royal Beach Club rooms on the top two floors (12, 13) enjoy access to an exclusive 12th-floor, panoramic-view lounge with a television and dining terraces where a complimentary breakfast buffet and complimentary evening hot/cold appetizers and self-serve cocktails are offered daily.

Featuring palm-tree and garden islands and surrounded by sundecks furnished with cushioned teak lounge chairs, four lagoon-style pools ranging from 68.5 to 50 meters long (225 to 165 ft) offer a variety of swimming opportunities. The largest pool contains a swim-up bar, a jetted section, and tile lounges, as does an adults' pool. Another pool caters to children, with tubes and floats available for rent, and the fourth is for families.
Three semi-circular, artificial coves distinguish the resort's 300-meter (328-yard) beach frontage, which is furnished with padded lounge chairs and umbrellas. A private sand section adjoining the beach features curtained, wood-platform rental cabanas with cushioned teak lounges for 3-6 people. The beachfront, indoor/outdoor Nikki Beach Restaurant & Bar also includes a private sand section, this one furnished with sunbathing beds reserved for customers.
A water-sports center rents boogie boards, kayaks, sailboats, and snorkeling gear and also offers fishing trips and scuba-diving instruction/excursions. Independent operators on a beach adjacent to the resort offer parasail, personal watercraft and banana-boat rentals/services.
An expansive, air-conditioned, mirrored-wall fitness center (daily surcharge) contains cardio machines, weight machines, free weights, and a workout studio offering spinning and Pilates classes (surcharges). Oceanfront yoga classes are also available (surcharges).

Nikki Beach Restaurant & Bar - Branch of international chain of casual resort restaurants/beach clubs. Expansive indoor/outdoor design featuring natural woods, white muslin curtains, canvas-covered chairs, director’s chairs, stools, platform beds, banquettes, and lounging banquettes. Private sand section with sunbathing beds and umbrellas. Multi-level seating/lounging under enormous thatched-roof palapa containing sushi bar, dance areas. Shaded ocean-view terrace seating.
