Amenity highlights: The Royal Decameron Costa Flamingos contains four pools. One is located across the street from the resort's beachfront buildings and serves as an adults-only haven. This large, “quiet" pool is U-shaped, with a narrow channel linking two swimming areas and surrounded by a spacious sundeck furnished with lounge chairs. Three pools are arrayed along the beach and offer sundeck lounge chairs to enjoy sunset views. The beach offers rows of thatched-roof palapas for shade. On most days, gentle surf offers great boogie boarding near the beach. Some 40 yards offshore, a larger surf line provides true surfing, with surfboards available for rent on the beach.

Insider tip: The resort contains five lodging buildings, or "blocks." Two have lobbies. Just outside the Flamingos-block lobby is a quiet, shaded, open-air reception room with comfortable seating that catches breezes, making it an ideal haven for reading.

The 510 rooms of this All-Inclusive Nuevo Vallarta resort are housed in five buildings, or "blocks," of either three or four stories, with only one containing an elevator. Palm trees, lawns, flowering hedges, and gardens create a verdant tropical atmosphere. Activities, athletic contests, and entertainment conducted by the resort's staff begin with morning exercise and culminate with a nightly show in the open-air theater or the disco nightclub, Bar Congo. Children's activities are supervised daily near the pool.

A business center includes four computers with high-speed Internet access (surcharge). A shuttle-taxi service (surcharge) operates to downtown Puerto Vallarta 24 km (15 miles) away.
