Hotel Information: Catering to an international clientele, the resort comprises three side-by-side hotels—Riu Bachata, Riu Merengue, and Riu Mambo—sharing an 800m (one-half mile) beach. Connected by a paved walkway, the hotels resemble pastel villages. Guests enjoy access to all resort facilities, entertainment, and activities.

Each hotel has its own pools, RiuLand children's club, open-air theater for nightly entertainment, activities schedule, and choice of restaurants, including a theme-dinner buffet restaurant.

Guests may drink at all hotels' bars and eat breakfast, lunch, and snacks at all restaurants. Guests must eat dinner at their own hotel’s restaurants.

Riu Bachata Hotel is adjacent to the water-sports beach (located in front of Riu Merengue Hotel) on Maimón Bay. The casino adjoins the lobby. The hotel’s pool complex is the largest and most elaborate. Like Riu Merengue Hotel, it includes a large, open-air, plaza-like bar, an amenity Riu Mambo does not have. This hotel also includes ice machines, which the other hotels do not.

Riu Merengue Hotel was the first and is located in the center. It includes a large, open-air, plaza-like bar. The beachfront, water-sport center is located in front of Riu Merengue Hotel.

Riu Mambo Hotel is the smallest of the three. Bars offer only domestic-brand liquors, although guests may enjoy international brands at the other hotels' bars. While all three hotels welcome children, Riu Mambo Hotel is especially family-friendly because it includes a supervised children's section in the main buffet restaurant at dinner.

Amenity highlights: This hotel features two 61m (200-foot) pools, one with a jetted section, a shallow area with underwater tile lounges, and a swimup bar. A children’s pool is also on site. Padded lounge chairs and thatched-roof sunshades flank the pools. Maimón Bay Beach, adjacent to the hotel, offers a water-sports center (located in front of Riu Merengue Hotel) for kayaks, snorkeling gear, sailboats, pedal boats, windsurfers, and boogie boards. Two gazebos can host weddings.

Insider tip: This area of the Dominican Republic is known as the Amber Coast for its rich deposits of the semi-precious stone. The Amber Museum in Puerto Plata 10 km (6.25 mi) east of the hotel is an excellent place to shop for amber.

This hotel includes a 3m-diameter (10-foot) children's pool and two 61m (200-foot) arc-shaped pools, one featuring an eight-person jetted section, a shallow area with underwater tile lounges and a fountain, and a swimup bar. Guests also enjoy access to pools at the Riu Resort's other two hotels. Padded lounge chairs and thatched-roof sunshades flank all pools. The resort faces an 800m (one-half mile) Atlantic Ocean beach. Sand extending inland under palm trees includes sports facilities.

Maimón Bay, at the resort's western end, offers a beachfront, water-sport center (located in front of Riu Merengue Hotel) providing kayaks, snorkeling gear, Hobie Cat sailboats, pedal boats, windsurfers, and boogie boards as part of the All-Inclusive plan.
