The Heathman Hotel

Hotel Information: Each guest is greeted by door staff in an English Beefeater costume, then placed in the care of a desk clerk who doubles as a personal concierge. Business and leisure travelers mingle in the sumptuous Tea Court, bar, and restaurant with celebrities and performers in town for events at the adjacent concert hall and nearby venues.

Amenity highlights: This hotel is known for its mezzanine-level lending library stocked with first editions signed by noted authors who have been guests. The first-floor Tea Court is also a draw, with vaulted ceiling, marble fireplace, grand stairway, Steinway piano, crystal chandelier, and live jazz five nights a week.

Insider tip: The Heathman Hotel is six short walking blocks, or a complimentary bus ride, to the Western Culinary Institute. Students and instructors operate two restaurants: The formal Bleu serves lunch and dinner (Tuesday-Friday), and the casual Cafe Bleu is an upscale patisserie.
