Hotel Information: A short palm-lined drive leads to the entrance of the Rendezvous Observation City Hotel. Inside lies a two-storey atrium lobby with glass ceiling. Australian (and occasional Japanese and European) guests relax on sofas scattered in front of a cascading water feature with potted palms. The reception lies to the right of the entrance, and is hung with artworks.
Insider tip: The Rendezvous Observation City Hotel was built for the America's Cup in 1987, and suites are named after yachts in that race. It has one of Perth's best surf beaches. The Amphitheatre that stands off the beach just beside the hotel is often a venue for sporting events, in particular the National Surf Life Saving championships, which are held there annually.

Open seven days, the Vanilla Face & Body Spa encompasses two floors and comprises eight treatment rooms, including a Vichy shower room and a rainshower room. Gubbera Kodo Rocks Therapy (1 hour): AU$110–$115
Hand-carved Gubbera stones, unique to the northwest Kimberley region of Australia, are warmed and combined with rhythmic Kodo body massage to relieve muscular, physical, and emotional tension.

Footprints in the Sand Treatment (30 minutes): AU$50–$55
A deep foot soak is followed by a stimulating exfoliation treatment using sea salt. A nourishing aromatic pepperberry foot mask is then applied before smoothing Pearl Feet Treat foot lotion. Finally, a soothing foot massage is given to rejuvenate the entire body.

Treatment designed to stimulate the circulation system, soothe tired muscles, invigorate the skin, and revitalise the spirit. An energising full body wet room exfoliating therapy, using aromatic oils, is followed by sea salts to cleanse and purify. Finishes with a warm water massage to relieve stress.

An exfoliating treatment for the back is followed by a 20-minute back massage and Balinese palming. A facial and scalp massage follows, finishing with a towel wrap for the feet.

Rooms
The Rendezvous Observation City Hotel has 333 guestrooms and suites occupying floors 10 to 23 of the building. They are decorated in contemporary style with medium-grain wood furnishings, a white and slate-blue décor, and abstract artworks. Guestrooms either have sofas or armchairs with side tables. Desks have direct-dial phones, lamps, and high-speed Internet access (surcharge). Cable/satellite TVs offer pay movies and channels including Foxtel, Discovery, Nickelodeon, Sky News, and Fox Sports. The Rendezvous Observation City Hotel features a heated, outdoor lagoon-style pool with an adjacent spa and kid's wading pool. A poolside bar, serving drinks and snacks, operates during the summer months. There are two floodlit tennis courts, with complimentary racquets and balls available through the concierge. The fully equipped fitness centre is one of the largest hotel fitness centres in the city, with a separate weights room and steam rooms for men and women.
The Rendezvous Observation City Hotel stands right on Scarborough Beach, which is renowned for its surfing, windsurfing, and kite surfing. Several shops along the waterfront, within a block of the hotel, offer equipment hire. A walking/cycling tracks travel from here along the coastline for 10 km. There is also a children's playground outside the hotel, on the edge of the beach. The nearest golfing is at Hammersely or Wembley Golf Courses, each less than 10 minutes by taxi from the hotel, while jet skiing and motor boating is available at Hillarys, a suburb just a 10 minute drive away. The nearest location for good scuba diving and snorkelling is Rottnest Island, a popular daytrip that can be reached by ferry from the city, departing Barrack Street Jetty. Whale-watching trips also leave the jetty. Also in the city centre, helicopter sightseeing tours are offered at Causeway.

Getting there: Perth International Airport has two separate terminals about five km apart; the domestic terminal is closer to the city centre and Scarborough. The most convenient way to get from either terminal is by taxi or airport shuttle bus. Car rentals are also available online. Click the links below for instructions/details.
Getting around: The Rendezvous Observation City Hotel has a complimentary shuttle bus into the city centre at 10:30 AM and 3 PM (returning at 11 AM and 3:30 PM) and dropping guests at the Barrack Street Ferry Terminal or the corner of Hay and Pier Streets. There is also a complimentary shuttle to Fremantle leaving at 9 AM and 4 PM (retuning at 9:30 AM and 4:30 PM) and dropping guests at the Fremantle railway station, Phillimore Street, or the Rottnest Ferry Jetty. Seats are limited, and booking in advance through the concierge is recommended.
Transperth operates all buses, trains, and ferries, passengers can transfer between them on a single ticket, which costs AU$1–$5 and is bought directly from the driver. Tickets are valid for two hours; MultiRider and DayRider tickets provide discounts for frequent travel. From opposite the Rendezvous Observation City Hotel, bus number 400 goes into Perth city centre, while bus number 408 travels to Glendalough, the nearest train station. Trains operate from early morning until midnight and arrive at Perth Railway Station on Wellington Street, where there is also a large bus interchange. Driving directions from Perth International Airport (PER): From the airport, turn left onto the Great Eastern Highway and follow this until the Graham Farmer Freeway. Turn left onto the freeway and continue until it joins the Mitchell Freeway (Perth's city centre can be seen off to your left). Continue north along the Mitchell Freeway and take the Karrinyup exit. Travel along Karrinyup Road to the West Coast Highway. Turn left and drive down hill towards the ocean; the Rendezvous Observation City Hotel is the tall building directly ahead at the end of the road, just across the intersection. Turn right at the intersection to access the hotel's driveway.
