Hotel Information: A curving mountain road with glorious views leads to Stein Eriksen Lodge. Guests are greeted and escorted to the Arrival Lobby, with high cathedral ceiling, massive stone fireplace, and tall, artificial fir tree twinkling with hundreds of lights. Outside, paths wind through arboretum-like grounds planted with pine, aspen, and spruce. A brief stroll leads to the alpine-style Main Lodge, location of the restaurant, concierge desk, and ski facilities. The hotel is a favorite of celebrities, CEOs, and political leaders seeking luxury and seclusion.
Amenity highlights: This Norwegian-style lodge was developed by Stein Eriksen, gold medalist at the 1952 Winter Olympics. The lodge provides ski-in/ski-out access to Deer Valley Resort; a chairlift is 75 feet from the back door. Ski valets assist guests with their skis and serve them steaming mugs of hot chocolate when they return from the slopes. They also wax and tune skis, and put boots on drying racks.
The spa is a European-inspired sanctuary designed to help guests prepare for and unwind from their alpine activities. Signature treatments include the refreshing Nordic Princess, with exfoliation, Vichy rinse, and rosemary-enzyme massage, and the Norseman Vichy, with steam room, exfoliation, Vichy rinse, and deep-heated liniment rub.
Insider tip: Guests are invited to tour the hotel’s award-winning wine cellar, featuring 10,000 bottles and more than 600 different labels. Showcasing the work of local craftspeople, the cellar has a stone archway, corked floor, redwood racks, and a tasting table. Tours are complimentary and can be arranged at the concierge desk or the restaurant.
