Hotel Information: Guests are welcomed into an airy lobby filled with plants and chic furnishings. A soaring palm tree makes a spectacular centrepiece, and greenery tumbles from the atrium and the four open floors above. This modern hotel caters mainly for families looking for a quieter retreat away from the buzz of Paphos town centre.
Amenity highlights: The resort boasts a large swimming pool that sweeps right around the hotel and there is also a heated indoor swimming pool. As well as a sauna, traditional hammam steam bath and hot tub, the Asphodel Spa offers an extensive range of treatments including those using Elemis products. A chapel is on hand for weddings with receptions being held in the amphitheatre outside. The hotel also has a tennis court.
Insider tip: The Troodos Mountains, around an hour’s drive away, offer Europe’s most southerly skiing from November through to March with both downhill and cross-country runs. In summer the mountains also have a network of hiking trails that can easily be accessed from the village of Troodos itself, where there is also a year-round visitor centre and restaurant.
Rooms
Spread across four floors, the Azia Blue’s 183 air-conditioned guestrooms are all decorated with cool blue and white tones. Rooms come with patterned blue carpets and blue bedspreads and curtains, with oak headboards and wardrobes, and granite desks and bedside tables. Bathroom feature marble sinks. Other amenities include minibars, safes, bathroom telephones and satellite TV. All rooms have private balconies complete with tables and two chairs. As well as indoor and outdoor pools there is a tennis court and playground within the grounds; a gym offers cardio equipment and aerobics classes. Games and activities are organised for children in high season, and evening entertainment includes live music, folkloric shows, theme nights and wine tasting.
A variety of water sports and boat trips are available in the resort of Paphos (seasonal). The golf course at Aphrodite Hills is a 40-minute drive away.
