Hotel Information: Opened in 1964, and once a hangout for celebrities like Nancy Sinatra, Elvis, and the Rat Pack, Caliente Tropics Resort combines retro-cool with an updated look and feel. A softly lit triangular archway welcomes arriving guests. Inside the Polynesian-themed lobby, a small stream flows through a rock garden. Tiki-style art adorns the walls, and guests check in at a front desk accented with grass and bamboo.
Amenity highlights: This Palm Springs hotel features an outdoor pool with cabanas, a 12-person spa tub, and lawn chairs. A spacious poolside lawn area is ideal for barbecuing, Frisbee-playing, sunning, and shuffleboard. Hawaiian Bill's, the poolside bar, is open weekends. Insider tip: Less than two miles from the resort, the Fabulous Palm Springs Follies features performances by professional singers and dancers, ages 49–89. The show runs November through May at the Plaza Theatre in downtown Palm Springs and sells out regularly to visitors from all over the world.
