Amenity highlights: A 42,000-square-foot health-and-beauty spa offers massage, body treatments, facials, and hydrotherapy in addition to an outdoor complex of swimming, soaking, and bubbling pools. Rooms

The PGA National Resort and Spa offers 381 guestrooms in a four-story building and 40 two-bedroom, two-bathroom guest cottages clustered around little lakes and a swimming pool about 500 yards from the main building.

Rooms include balconies or patios with two chairs and a cocktail table. The recently renovated guestrooms feature wireless Internet access, pay movies, PlayStation video games, clock radios with MP3 capabilities, minibars, and pillowtop mattresses. Bathrooms have been upgraded to marble and granite and all come with PGA National’s exclusive line of amenities. Cribs (infant beds) and rollaway beds (surcharge) are available.

Cottages include a patio with a two-chair dining set, fully equipped kitchens with four-burner ranges, microwave ovens, refrigerators, and dishwashers. Other features include washer/dryers, four- or six-chair dining sets, dial-up Internet access, and VCRs. Contemporary decor and furniture varies from cottage to cottage. The cottages are clustered around little lakes and a swimming pool about 500 yards from the main building.

All guestrooms are nonsmoking. Smoking is permitted on balconies.

Recreation

The PGA National Resort features five championship golf courses: The Palmer Course, designed by Arnold Palmer, with grass bunkers and undulating fairways; the Estate designed by Karl Litten, with open meadows lined by pine trees; the Haig designed by George and Tom Fazio, featuring non-crossing water hazards; the Squire designed by the Fazios requiring precise shotmaking; and the Champion designed by the Fazios and updated by Jack Nicklaus and home to the Honda Classic, a PGA Tour event, and Ryder Cup events. A golf academy offers clinics and lessons (surcharges). Clubs and shoes can be rented. As of December 1, 2004, fore caddies will be available to all golfers using the hotel’s championship course. Caddy services are available for a surcharge only and include golf-ball and club cleaning, golf-course information, location assistance, club-selection assistance.

A large main pool is accented by water features and palm trees, with a separate children’s pool and play area nearby. Near the pool and screened by palm trees is a 26-acre lake edged by 50 yards of sand for sunbathing and volleyball, but swimming is forbidden because of the possible presence of alligators. Another swimming pool lies within the Cottages complex. A heated, 45-foot, five-lane lap pool is located outside the health club.

The PGA Resort's tennis center comprises 19 Har-Tru courts, 12 lighted. Surcharges are levied for play and for children's and adult's lessons and clinics. Other facilities include three croquet lawns and an indoor racquetball court (surcharges for both). A variety of workout classes, including yoga and Pilates, are complimentary. Water sports are available on Singer Island five miles east of the resort on the Atlantic Ocean.

Property Amenities

A 42,000-square-foot, cell-phone-free health-and-beauty spa offers saunas, steam rooms, eight-person spa tubs, and relaxation lounges. The spa's private garden, outdoor Waters of the World complex contains six pools: a large, round, heated swimming pool; two large soaking pools heated to 92 degrees, one containing salt from the French Pyrenees, the other salt from the Dead Sea; two 11-person spa tubs (one sunny, one shaded); and a cool plunge pool. Access to the pools is complimentary for guests booking spa treatments. Others may use the pools for a daily surcharge when the spa isn't busy.

Spa facilities include 21 massage rooms, eight facial rooms, and two hydrotherapy rooms. Treatment options include massage for couples, Reiki massage, hot-and-cold stone therapy, alpha-beta-peel facials, facials, body scrubs and wraps, and water therapies in the salt pools. The beauty salon offers hair and nail care (including aromatherapy pedicures), waxing, and makeup and makeover services.

Caddies are available to all golfers using the PGA National Resort and Spa's championship course. Caddy services are available for a surcharge only and include golf-ball and club cleaning, golf-course information, location assistance, club-selection assistance.

A 32,000-square-foot, complimentary Health & Racquet Club contains a racquetball court, cardio and weight machines, free weights, spinners, and features a separate personal-training room (surcharges for trainers) and locker-room spa tubs. (The men's side also contains a sauna.) Complimentary classes include Pilates, dance step, yoga, line dance, stretch, pool aerobics, and spinning. Tap-dance and individual Pilates sessions are available for surcharges. Other services offered for surcharges include nutrition counseling, fitness evaluations, and body-composition testing. Outside the club is a 45-foot, five-lane lap pool.

The PGA National Resort and Spa provides wireless Internet access throughout the resort. A business center includes computers with high-speed Internet connections (surcharges). A game room contains video and other games for children. The PGA National Pro Shop provides a wide variety of resort wear, golf and gift items.
