Amenity highlights: The resort offers beach access and an outdoor pool surrounded by palms and potted flowers, with a poolside tiki bar and café. The pool, bar, and café are open seasonally (May through early November, weather permitting). Guests may also rent chairs, umbrellas, and private cabanas for lounging on the beach. A concierge is on hand to offer restaurant and shopping recommendations, and help plan excursions to the surrounding area.

Insider tip: A fun December to March activity is a whale-watching trip organized by the Virginia Aquarium and Marine Science Center, located three miles from the resort. Each excursion in search of humpback and fin whales is narrated by a trained expert. Visitors may also see brown pelicans and other sea birds. The sight of a whale breaching or pelican diving for schooling fish makes for a dramatic show.

Recreation

The resort offers an outdoor seasonal pool. Guests can try boogie boarding and parasailing in the ocean right off the resort's beachfront. The Virginia Beach boardwalk, right outside the resort, is a great spot for running and biking, and bike rentals are available right across the street from the resort. Guests receive complimentary access to the fitness center at the Hilton, three blocks away.

The 18-hole Owl's Creek Golf Course is 2.5 miles from the hotel. Dolphin-watching excursions are a popular pastime May through October.
