Hotel Information: Guests are ushered into a sparkling lobby by white-gloved doorstaff dressed in 19th-century dress designed by Pierre Cardin. A crimson circular couch is lined with gold tassels, crowned with a regal bust, and lit by a crystal chandelier. Oil paintings hang from gilded rails behind the front desk, where well-heeled clientele, bon viveurs, and—occasionally—members of the glitterati register.
Amenity highlights: The hotel is an eclectic living museum in which 15th-century antiques sit next to pieces of modern and contemporary art. Walking through the corridors and public areas, guests view original Salvador Dali paintings and ancient Japanese vases; upholstered antique furniture is scattered around each landing.
Insider tip: Centrally located Nice is an ideal base for exploring the French Riviera, and a day excursion by boat can be a romantic alternative to a car or train trip. Travelers can head to the port—just 2 km (1.5 miles) east of the hotel—for regular sailings to destinations such as St. Tropez and Monte-Carlo.
