Hotel Information: The flagship property of W Hotels, this 57-story monolith is at the epicenter of Times Square excitement, surrounded by Broadway theaters and shopping. The hotel offers a Zen-like haven from the surrounding neon frenzy, with soothing colors and a glass-encased waterfall in the foyer that creates a "liquid ceiling" effect, with water running overhead and streaming down on open sides.
Amenity highlights: The W houses a trio of upscale food and beverage outlets: Blue Fin restaurant, offering renowned seafood and some of Manhattan's best live jazz; the "see and be seen" Rande Gerber bar The Whiskey, with DJs and a screening room; and the relaxed, funky lobby-level Library Bar. Other amenities include Sweat Fitness Center and W The Store, selling high-end apparel, music, books, accessories, and even the W Bed.
Insider tip: A block from the hotel, the Times Square TKTS Discount Booth sells tickets to Broadway and Off-Broadway shows at up to 50% off. Note that this location sells day-of-performance tickets only. The South Street Seaport booth sells tickets to evening shows on the day of the performance, and matinee tickets the day before. Generally lines are shorter at this booth as well. The Seaport is about 5 miles from the hotel, with access via the Number 2 or 3 subway.
