Hotel Information: Located on Fifth Avenue overlooking New York's Central Park, The Pierre first opened in 1931. Guests are welcomed into a marble lobby with exquisitely arranged fresh flowers, graceful archways, and museum-caliber artwork. White-gloved elevator attendants whisk guests to their rooms. Amenity highlights: The $100 million renovation included the reconfiguring of the first floor public areas to accommodate a new restaurant, Le Caprice, as well as 2 East, a new lobby lounge. Le Caprice will open in the summer of 2009, and will be modeled after its legendary counterpart in London. The eclectic menu will be based on Le Caprice in London, which includes European classics with some international influence. 2 East, located off the main lobby, will feature light fare, afternoon tea, and a genuine bronze bar. Insider tip: Look closely at the murals in the Rotunda; you might spot a celebrity. In addition to mythical gods and goddesses such as Neptune and Venus, artist Edward Melcarth (1914-1973) slyly included several contemporary figures. One bears a striking resemblance to Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, a frequent patron of the Pierre. The young actor Erik Estrada was the model for the Biblical Adam, across the room, where you can also see a rendition of the artist’s cat, Sasha.

Le Caprice - Opening summer of 2009, Le Caprice is modeled after its legendary London counterpart. The eclectic menu showcases European classics with some international influence. Decor includes white-and-chrome finishes and a monochromatic Art Deco design by Martin Brudnizki.
2 East - The Pierre's new Upper East Side bar, designed by Alexandra Champalimaud, has a sophisticated downtown atmosphere. 2 East serves light fare, afternoon tea, and a variety of cocktails and other libations. A bronze bar is the centerpiece of the room.
