Hotel Information: The Mansfield Hotel was designed by James Renwick, the architect of Saint Patrick’s Cathedral, the New York Public Library, and other historic Manhattan buildings. An ornate, 16-foot-high lobby ceiling is lit by original brass rosette fixtures. Decorative wrought-iron staircases curve up from the lobby.
Insider tip: On Wednesdays and Fridays, Grand Central Terminal, 2.5 blocks from the hotel, offers complimentary tours. This landmark was restored in the late 20th century to its original 1913 glory.
