Insider tip: Love to cook? Macy’s flagship store, one block from the hotel, is home to the superb De Gustibus Cooking School. Celebrated chefs provide instruction on such tempting topics as regional Italian fare, food-and-wine pairings, and handmade chocolates. Of course, samples and tastings are included. Same-day openings are often available—just go to Macy’s eighth floor and sign up at the security table about three hours before class. Or register in advance at the De Gustibus Web site.
