The Bryant Park Hotel

Hotel Information: This Midtown Manhattan boutique hotel occupies the splendidly restored American Radiator Building, completed in 1924. The gothic-inspired tower, with its black-brick exterior accented with gold terracotta, was the subject of the Georgia O’Keeffe’s 1927 painting Radiator Building—Night, New York. The lobby, by contrast, is completely up-to-the-moment, with lipstick-red furnishings, glossy black marble, a customized music mix, and elevators bathed in red light. The Bryant Park Hotel is popular with trendsetting travelers, including boldface names in the fashion, music, and movie industries.

Amenity highlights: The hotel’s Koi Restaurant is an inspired choice for modern Japanese cuisine with a New York flair. Menu highlights include Sesame Encrusted Lobster Tail, Roasted Duck Breast, and Kobe Beef Carpaccio, plus a large selection of sushi, sashimi, and sake. Room service is available around the clock. Stairs illuminated by votive candles lead to the Cellar Bar, a subterranean hotspot with a vaulted brick ceiling, DJ entertainment, creative cocktails, and a fashionable crowd of celebrities and young professionals.

Insider tip: Bryant Park, directly across from the hotel, is a Midtown oasis with tree-shaded paths, complimentary wireless Internet access, 'wichcraft food kiosks, an open-air library, hundreds of tables and chairs, wintertime ice-skating, a summertime movie festival, a French-style carousel, and a wide lawn for picnicking and soaking up the sun. The park hosts New York’s famous Fashion Week in September and February, with plenty of celebrities on hand to see and be seen.
