Hotel Information: The Monterey Bay Inn offers a prime waterfront location at the quieter end of Cannery Row. San Carlos Park, a pleasant green space with a fountain, dolphin statue, and ocean-view picnic tables, is right outside the front door. The park provides direct access to San Carlos Beach, one of the area's top scuba-diving spots. In the lobby, flat-panel TVs play continuous footage of marine life, courtesy of the nearby Monterey Bay Aquarium.
Amenity highlights: Complimentary Continental breakfast for two is delivered to guestrooms each morning on trays with fine china and linens. Freshly baked cookies are served in the lobby each afternoon. A spa tub, open 24 hours, invites relaxation in the sunshine or under the stars. Insider tip: You might hear them before you see them: The “ah-ROOP! ah-ROOP!” barking of Monterey’s famous sea lions. Dozens congregate around the Coast Guard Jetty, just across the park from the hotel (less than a five-minute walk). You’ll find them basking on the rocks or swimming amid the kelp forests just offshore. Seabirds such as black cormorants and pelicans flock nearby.

Spacious guestrooms feature private balconies with wrought-iron furniture and views of the ocean, the harbor and park, or Cannery Row. All rooms have king beds with down comforters, Pima cotton linens, and featherbeds. Armoires hold 27-inch TVs with DVD players. Extra-large bathrooms come with twin granite vanities, waffle-weave robes, thick towels, makeup/shaving mirrors, marble floors, and separate water closets. A spa tub, open 24 hours, is situated on a sunny patio with comfortable seating.
Adjacent San Carlos Beach is popular with scuba divers. Less than a mile away, Del Monte Beach is ideal for long walks, sunbathing, tidepooling, and wading in the rather chilly waters. Whale-watching and kayaking tours depart from or near Fisherman's Wharf. Bike rentals and scuba outfitters are located throughout town.
The waterfront Recreation Trail, right outside the hotel, attracts runners, walkers, and bicyclists.
Pebble Beach Golf Links, Del Monte Golf Course, Links at Spanish Bay, and other world-class courses are within six miles.
Point Lobos State Reserve, seven miles away, offers hiking trails with spectacular views of the rugged coast. Sea lions, harbor seals, and more than 150 bird species—from hummingbirds to herons—are among the animals inhabiting the reserve.

The hotel sells aquarium tickets that provide admission for two consecutive days for the cost of a one-day ticket. Ticketholders are also able to bypass the long lines—a boon for guests traveling with children!
