Hotel Information: Built in 1985 and remodeled in early 2003, the all-suite hotel welcomes guests with an open lobby lit by a skylight, decorated with tropical flowers and plants, and warmed by a large wood-burning fireplace. Tile floors and six-foot framed black-and-white photos of local scenery showcase the Spanish influence on the historic area. Adjacent to the Monterey Conference Center, the hotel attracts convention goers and business and leisure travelers.
Amenity highlights: An above-lobby salon with a wood-burning fireplace, couch, and chairs hosts a daily complimentary afternoon fruit and tea reception. The Hotel Pacific also offers complimentary Continental breakfast. Two separate landscaped courtyards contain spa tubs.
Insider tip: Guests can follow the Path of History by taking a self-guided, two-mile tour of Old Monterey, marked by yellow tiles set in the sidewalk. Colton Hall, a block from the hotel, is the site where California’s first Constitution was signed.
Rooms
The Hotel Pacific has 105 nonsmoking suites on four floors, all of which include feather beds, gas fireplaces, hardwood floors, refrigerators, and TVs with VCRs.
French doors open to private, furnished balconies or patios. Rooms have Spanish-style decor in tones of terra cotta and sienna. Sitting areas include sofas, desks, and handmade Italian wooden chairs. Black-and-white and color photography is by local artists.
Bathrooms have phones, additional TVs, bathrobes, Aveda toiletries, hand-milled soaps, and bath salts.
