All accommodations at this Riviera Maya hotel have terraces or balconies, air conditioning and ceiling fans, in-room safes, and minibars and liquor dispensers restocked every other day. Recreation

Guests at the Riu Tequila receive one complimentary introductory scuba-diving lesson in a pool. On-site recreation includes two swimming pools (684 and 645 square meters; 818 and 771 square yards) with an artificial beach, a children’s pool (16 square meters; 19 square yards), a spa tub, and a playground. Two tennis courts and one multipurpose court are also on site. The beach is 800 meters (0.5 mi) from the hotel, and complimentary shuttle service is available. Windsurfing, kayaking, and snorkeling are among the many water sports included.

The 18-hole Playacar Golf Course (surcharge) is located 1 km (0.5 mi) from the resort. Riu Tequila guests receive recreational exchange privileges at Riu Playacar and Riu Yucatan. Spa services (surcharge) and a complimentary fitness room are located on the village’s Mexican Street.

This village-style, All-Inclusive resort is part of the Playacar complex of resorts and is located within three km (two mi) of the ferry to Cozumel and downtown Playa del Carmen. The beach is 800 meters (0.5 mi) away, accessed by a garden path or a complimentary shuttle. Lush gardens surround Riu Tequila, and an 18-hole golf course is adjacent. The resort has two outdoor pools with an artificial beach, a children’s pool and playground, a spa tub, and two tennis courts and a multipurpose court.

Just outside the resort is Mexican Street, home to Renova Spa, a fitness center, a medical center, jewelry shops, a photo studio and lab, and Internet access (surcharges). Guests have exchange privileges for the recreational amenities and restaurants at Riu Playacar and Riu Yucatan.

Know Before You Go

Weather-related policies

The following policies are valid only when an official Hurricane Watch has been issued by the US National Hurricane Center for the hotel’s destination.

By definition a Hurricane Watch means that hurricane conditions are possible within the watch area, generally within the next 36 hours. A hurricane watch might change into a hurricane warning when hurricane conditions are expected within the next 24 hours or less.

If guests have to be evacuated to a shelter (as a result of an actual hurricane or as per instruction from the authorities), the hotel will waive the charge for the night(s) that guests must remain in the shelter.

Once guests return to the hotel with basic services available (food, beverage, and lodging with running water and electricity), guests will be charged as a normal stay.

If guests remain in the hotel and basic services are not affected for more than 24 hours, normal charges will apply and no reimbursements will be made. If basic services are interrupted for more than 24 hours, the hotel will waive the charges of the nights that the basic services were not available.

If guests are forced by circumstances to extend their stays beyond their expected departure date and the basic services of the hotel are available, a special distress rate will be defined. This distress rate will be charged directly to each guest at the hotel.

No penalties will be charged if cancellations, no-shows, or early departures occur as a result of a hurricane threat.
