The discreet, flag-lined driveway leading up to the hotel entrance gives the feeling of arriving at a gracious mansion in an upscale neighbourhood. This ambience extends to the interior, which gleams with marble columns and floors complemented by dark-wood walls, chrome fixtures in subtle Art Deco designs, and glass artwork scattered throughout. Classical music piped into the background and deep leather chairs set in conversation corners encourage relaxation for the hotel’s clientele, which comprises families on holiday, local couples on weekend getaways, and travellers on business.
History buffs and the young (or young at heart) shouldn’t miss a stroll through neighbouring Fitzroy Gardens. Nestled amid its winding pathways and flowering shrubs is not only Cook’s Cottage, which was originally built in 1755 by the parents of famous English navigator Captain James Cook, but also the Fairies Tree, a carved tree trunk meant to be a sanctuary for fairies and those who believe in them.

Dining
radii restaurant and bar - Five staggered levels of mirrors, chrome, and marble account for everything from pre-dinner drinks in the circular lower-level bar/lounge, to an interactive dining experience near the open kitchen, and evening entertainment by the baby grand piano. A Mediterranean-influenced menu is changed seasonally and includes dishes such as freshly shucked oysters, seared rare tuna, and soft-centered chocolate puddings. Some dishes are embellished with fresh herbs from the hotel’s own garden. In addition to a well-stocked bar, radii has an extensive wine cellar of white, red, and dessert wines that can be purchased by the bottle or the glass. Open for dinner Tuesday–Saturday; reservations recommended.
Trilogy - An open fireplace, shelves of antique books, and a baby grand piano generate the atmosphere of a country estate in this breakfast restaurant off the lobby. Serving breakfast daily and brunch on Sundays, it is especially known for its buffets. Opening out both to the hotel’s gardenlike courtyard and the lobby area, it offers a choice of indoor dining and alfresco dining during the warmer months.
Tea Lounge - All-day refreshments and high tea are served in this small sunken spot off the lobby, which offers views out to the courtyard garden. In addition to a wide range of coffees and leaf teas, a selection of other beverages is available. High tea includes sandwiches, gourmet desserts, freshly baked scones, hot canapés, and sparkling wine. Open daily.
