Hotel Information: The Hilton on the Park Melbourne is entered through revolving doors. Marble floors lead across to the wood-panelled reception desk past a large flower arrangement. Groups of low sofas and stone-topped tables are scattered across the lobby for the use of the many corporate and weekend leisure guests, many from Australia and Asia. Floor-to-ceiling windows, as well as metal and glass chandeliers, add light to the wood panelling and gold décor. To the left and right lie public areas and conference rooms, while two sweeping staircases lead up to further conference areas.
Amenity highlights: The Hilton on the Park Melbourne has a conference centre and a large number of meeting and function rooms, including a 707-square-metre Grand Ballroom, with large breakout and exhibition spaces. There is a full-service health spa, adjacent fitness centre with sauna and steam rooms, and an outdoor, terrace swimming pool with spa tub. Insider tip: The Hilton on the Park Melbourne lies opposite Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), the most hallowed sports ground in Australia. The cricket season runs from October to March. For those unacquainted with the sport, look for one-day games, since test games can take several days to complete. The city's most popular sport, the spectacular Australian Rules Football, is also played at the MCG from March to September. Visitors can tour the MCG and its museum, which includes an Olympic section, as the stadium was built for the 1956 Melbourne Olympics.
